Raising Lazarus HaCohen
The story of Yeshua (Jesus) rasing Lazarus is a prophetic shadow of what Yeshua will do at the time of His return. Yeshua shall raise believing Israel from amongst the nations, this is the 2nd Exodus. Along with this shall be the restoration of the Levitical priesthood and the ‘144,000’. The reestablishment of the Levitical Priesthood in the last days that bears witness to Yeshua.
In a nutshell, the real historical account of the raising of Lazarus in John chapter 11 prophetically prefigures the raising of the Levitical Priesthood led by Aaron's son Eleazar (Lazarus in Greek).
Yeshua is the one that issues the command for Lazarus to rise and He does this just prior to gathering Ephraim into the 'wilderness of the peoples' (Ezekiel 20:33-38) during the upheaval of World War 3. The only place in the entire New Testament where the name 'Ephraim' appears is in the account of the raising of Lazarus. Lazarus helps bring many Jews to a knowledge of Yeshua. And the Levitical Priesthood that he represents helps cement the two houses of Israel together. The two Houses are represented by Mary and Martha. |
This topic should be of vital interest to any messianic Torah believer that understands the fact of the two Houses of Israel, both Judah and Ephraim. The raising of Lazarus will profoundly affect us all!
144,000
The restoration of the ‘Cohanim’ (Hebrew word for ‘Priesthood’) of Levi will come about as the Lord begins the process of regathering Israel. The Lord shall join the believers of the House of Israel and the House of Judah. At the time of the restoration of Israel God will raise up deliverers.
These deliverers are the ‘144,000’, called out from 12 tribes of Israel, 12,000 from each tribe.
12 x 12,000 = 144,000
So God shall raise up the ‘144,000’, just like Yeshua chose His 12 disciples. The Lord shall raise up His servants that shall bring in the harvest and fight physically when raised in Glory with resurrected bodies.

The Raising up of Lazarus HaCohen - Part 1
Yeshua is the Resurrection

A most amazing miraculous historical event happened nearly 2000 years ago. You would imagine it to be written about in major newspapers everywhere! What was this earth shaking event? Of course the greatest event was the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Yeshua HaMashiach! We have four gospels and the entire New Testament scriptures that attest to this great event.
Luke 24:1-10 Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. 3 And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: 5 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, 7 Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words, 9 And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest. 10 It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.
There is no body of evidence to the lie that the disciples stole the body of our Lord. You will not find it here on earth. For He is risen, far above all principality and power (Ephesians 1:21, Colosians 2:10). And he reigns now in the Heavens and soon his Dominion shall come to this earth with the most potent and cataclysmic force. Even so Come Lord Yeshua Melek HaOlam.
In fact He already reigns in this world, but in a veiled way. Godless or proud unbelieving men do not recognize His judgment in their lives or nations, they just see events, not understanding that, Yeshua as God's son, the Image of the Invisible dispenses justice even in this world. But the earth is established in mercy so we don't see his judgments immediately, there is a time period before we reap what we sow. Nevertheless Yeshua will physically return to the world to take what is legally his. He will take possession of this world and take possession of his Vineyard and destroy those who would spoil the vines and mistreat his servants.
Matthew 21:41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
Meanwhile down here Yeshua is at work. In our lives as believers. And so before He returns in glory he will build his temple, of which you and I are a part of if we have received him, if we are born of His Spirit and obey his commands (John 3:8, 14:15, Romans 8:14). Yes we are that temple, that spiritual house, a house not built with hands. Every stone has been cut and polished and gotten into shape in the quarry of this world. We are worked on individually away from the site of the temple as it were. We are being fashioned through affliction and trials of faith to be brought to perfection through his gracious word. Like Jacob, the things that are against us are secretly for us. He is bringing us to an end of ourselves. Bringing us to the cross, that place of self nullification, Isaac's resting place upon the altar. This is how perfect men are fashioned in the wilderness, that is another exciting story which is made plain in Numbers chapter 33, but I digress. Soon the temple shall be raised in one day, at the ressurection. That is what the Torah teaches us symbolically in Exodus 40:2.

Exodus 40:2 On the first day of the first month shalt thou set up the tabernacle of the tent of the congregation.
The tabernacle of the body of Messiah, his people, his church (Kohelleth) will not be raised up until the tabernacle is completed. Or using temple terminology, the resurrection will not occur until every last stone is cut and polished to perfection, and all the various vessels are cast. The casting of the vessels of the temple of Solomon recorded in I Kings 7 is a picture of this.

1 Kings 7:46 In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zarthan.
These two places represent two events. Succoth represents the Millennial reign of Messiah, while Zarthan represents the piercing (Zar) of the Serpent/Dragon (Tan) which could either refer to Satan's defeat at the cross during Passover. Or it could refer to his defeat when the New Covenant comes into it's fulness during the future Yom Kippur. (When the Dragon, Leviathan, Satan - the accuser of the brethren is cast out of Heaven in Revelation chapter 12). We still sin, but the New Covenant is defined in Jeremiah 31:31 that we will never sin. We are clean positionally but we still fall in many ways in our corrupt flesh. Spiritually we are accepted but physically we are not made perfect. Yeshua has made atonement in Heaven, but there will be a time when it is brought into absolute perfection and we have a new body. This is perhaps alluded to in Revelation chapter 12 with the birth of the manchild, when a nation (Israel) is born in one day. When believing Israel becomes clothed in glory before the millenium, midway through the tribulation, the time of Jacob's trouble. This is tied to the promise to the over-comers of the church (Kohelleth) of Thyatira (Revelation 2). This is perhaps when our great King Yeshua suddenly comes to His temple. Again this is a topic for another discussion.
In any case the one who will raise the tabernacle/temple is Yeshua himself.
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
Now the Lord of Glory, ('HaMelek HaCavod'), is the Messiah and He is risen and is clothed in his incorruptible Celestial, body. But there were others that have been raised from death, also. And this is the topic of this article. In fact we will be looking at just one individual in particular, a chap named Lazarus and to what his resurrection represents prophetically and it's implication for the return of the king to begin his Kingdom down here after the destruction of the Anti-Christ. The House of Judah and the House of Israel need to pay attention. Here is a clue.

And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest
|
Later on we read that Ithamar's line was not nearly so faithful to the Lord as Eleazar's line. We have the incident of Eli's blindness and the fornication of his two sons as recorded in 1 Samuel 2:12-36. And later Itamar's descendant Abiathar betrays king David while the descendant of Eleazar named Zadock is faithful (1 Kings 2). See the Levitical Priesthood family tree below for details of these two lines of Priests.
Eleazar's descendants thus prove the fitness of Eleazar above Itamar to lead the priesthood.
So the name ‘Lazarus’, is related to ‘Eleazar’ the priest. And also related to the servant that gets a bride for Isaac. These two rolls are of course related because the priest is a mediator between one person and another, for example the bride and groom. And the Levitical priesthood was such a mediator in a ceremonial sense. Of course ultimately there is one mediator between God and man, the man Messiah Yeshua.
But there is an earthly priesthood that bears witness to Yeshua. Infact John the baptist was a priest, his father was from the course of Abijah which is from the actual line of Eleazar! And when the priests are doing their job properly they bear witness to the Messiah for the roll of the priest is to teach Israel the Torah (Law). And we know that the Law leads us to the Messiah.
- Eleazar
- Itamar

When the sons of Eleazar are doing their job properly they will bear witness to the Torah and the Torah made flesh, Yeshua, just like John the Baptist. We read in the account of Lazarus that he bears witness to Yeshua after he is raised.
When the priests are walking with the Lord as they should they bring unity to Israel. We may all be familiar with Psalm 133 which focuses on Unity and it's relationship to the oil of God's spirit and Aaron the priest.
In Psalm 133 we read;

Psalms 133:1-3 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; 3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.
And there is so much that is prophetic in this Psalm and it is related the resurrection. But what I want to concentrate on is the fact that unity of Israel is determined by the Anointing Oil that flows down Aaron's beard. The Oil of course represents God's Spirit. But the tribe of Levi and the Priesthood of Aaron in particular are the conduits by which Israel is blessed spiritually. Now we know that Lazarus is Eleazar the Leading branch of the Cohenim, the Priests. And in the last days Yeshua will raise them up and they will bear witness of Him! Jewish people have a difficulty seeing Yeshua as the Messiah. Well the sons of Eleazar are going to help. When the ten lost tribes of the House of Israel are joined to the House of Judah, Eleazar will be right in the middle of them bearing witness to Yeshua.
So let us now look at the Gospel Account of Lazarus in John chapter 11 in detail.
The Raising up of Lazarus HaCohen - Part 3
I have been sitting on Part 3 for a year or so before finally deciding to publish it because I didn't feel the unction to get it out there.
The Gospel according to John, chapter 11

As stated in 'The Raising of Lazarus HaCohen - Part 2' the gospel of John looks at Yeshua and the events around him from a heavenly perspective, the perspective of the Eagle. John looks at Yeshua as the Son of God.
Thus it is no wonder that the book of John begins as a midrash or commentary on the book of Genesis.
John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Yeshua is the Word of God, the Manner, the Bread of Life that came down from Heaven. He is also the light of the World. These two aspects of the Word, like the table of Shewbread and the Menorah are both one in Yeshua. Between the table of Shewbread and the Menorah stood the Altar of Incense which the Cohen, the Levitical priest word burn incense with prayers before the Vail that separates that Holy world from the Most Holy world where the Ark of the Covenant dwells.
The Raising of Lazarus is a true story but it also speaks of a much greater resurrection, the raising up of the Levitical Cohenim headed by the line of Eleazar which is transliterated into Greek as Lazarus.
Let us therefore look at John chapter 11 and the account of Lazarus and what it means prophetically. We will go through it line by line as exposition which may be a shock to many christians these days that don't like to think too much. But I hope that you will find it both exciting and eye opening and encouraging. The text will be in royal purple which is fitting for Lazarus (Eleazar) has a royal message, Yeshua HaMashiach the Son of God. The portion of scripture in purple will be followed by some commentary in normal font until the next portion of scripture and so on. Every detail in this chapter is important. Again John chapter 11 records a real historical event for us about a literal Lazarus that Yeshua literally raised from the dead. But it is also prophetic and it is in this light that we will look at it now in detail verse by verse. This event should be of vital interest to Torah based Messianics that understand that the Lord is going to gather the two Houses of Israel together because the Priesthood of Eleazar helps facilitate this. Let's get into it.

John 11 - verse by verse
John 11:1-57
1 Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
The first thing to notice is that Lazarus is sick. If Lazarus represents the Priesthood then the Priesthood of Eleazar is in trouble, it is sick. We know that in the time of Yeshua the Chief Priest was a political appointee. Since there is no Davidic throne, Edom is in Charge. Herod was an Idumean, an Edomite and a convert to the Judaism of the day. And along with the Edomite Tetrachy in Judea, Israel was also governed by a Roman Governer. The colour of Rome was Red and Rabbinic belief is that Rome is Edom. The many of the Edomites had long since migrated and established control over the Italians because Edomites were blessed by God to live by the sword. Just like the boys wrestling in Rebecca's womb so it is in the world, when Jacob is not in control Edom is. Only one can have dominion.
Israel still had a little bit of independence in their religion but they were dominated by Roman law politically (much like the modern secular state of Israel!). And sadly this included the appointment of High Priests. When King David was in charge he appointed the High Priests. But now Israel has no King but Caesar (Edom) and the Herod's were Edomites too.
The name Bethany has a Strongs concordance number of G963 Βηθανία Bēthania - Of Chaldee origin meaning 'date house'. It is also similar in spelling to the word for affliction. The bride of the Messiah is likened to a Date Palm, 'Tamar' in Hebrew. Yeshua was shortly to suffer for His Bride, the Church, Adat Israel, likened to a Date Palm with a strong Gentile component to it.

TWO SISTERS
Mary (Miriam) and Martha are two sisters. The names are of course Hebrew/Aramaic that were transliterated into Greek (G3137 Μαριάμ & G3136 Μάρθα respectively).
Both Myriam and Martha are believers in Messiah Yeshua.
Myriam
Another thing to notice is that Myriam (Mary) had been the one that annointed Yeshua's feet with her hair. We read about this in Matthew 26:6-13, Mark 14:3-9, Luke 7:36-50 and John 12:2-8. Myriam had been a harlot! This is the very word used by the prophet Hosea to describe the northern 10 tribes of the House of Israel before He devorced them. Thus Myriam symbolises the lost tribes of Israel in this way. However she found forgiveness through Yeshua who is the eternal one, immanuel (God with us), the great 'I AM' and Priest of all creation of the order of Melchizedech. And that is why she annointed Yeshua with tears and wiped his feet with her hair. She new what she was and she had found redemption in Yeshua forgiveness and now she was totally devoted to him.
Martha
The gospel of the good Doctor Luke provides us with a fascinating contrast between Mary and Martha. This helps to further identify who they represent. As noted above Myriam represents the lost tribes due to her previous harlotry. But now Martha comes into focus. Let's read the account first.
Luke 10:38-4238 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her. It is not recorded that
Martha was not a prostitute like Myriam. Martha loves the Lord Yeshua greatly like Myriam. However she expresses this by fussing about the details of things, she is distracted from just spending time with the Messiah. When Judah is walking with the Lord he is very devoted. But sometimes Judah tends to be the one that fusses over the details of the Torah but misses the big picture, fellowship with the Messiah. Both the name Judah and Martha have a feminine ending. Females tend to fuss over the details of life. Of course both the details and the big picture are important. But the big picture, that 'good part' as Yeshua put it is to be with the Messiah, not just doing stuff for Him.
Two Sisters = Two Houses
The two sisters are opposites in the way they relate to the Messiah, Yeshua. In a way both Myriam and Martha balance one another out. And so also the two houses of Israel compliment one another. Unfortunately they have spent a lot of time driving each other crazy. But the Messiah unites them, as does the raising of Lazarus who bares witness to the Messiah.
The two sisters represent the two houses of Israel, the 'House of Judah' (Jews) and the 'House of Israel' (10 lost tribes). The number two corresponds to any other group of two. For example, the image of God male and female, the two tablets of stone etc. In Genesis we are told that God created two main things, the heavens and the earth.
In Genesis 1:1 we are told that "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth".
בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ׃
Myriam's name, מרים, has a masculine plural ending and thus relates to the Heavens, השּׁמים, and plurality. This equates to the 10 tribes of the 'House of Israel' headed by Ephraim (another masculine plural ending). The ten tribes were of course much larger in number (plurality) than the much smaller house of Judah which just contained Judah, Benjamin and most of the Levites.
The name Martha is feminine ending and is thus related to the Earth which also is a feminine noun and thus Martha equates to Judah in this comparison. The name Judah, יהודה, has a feminine looking ending because it contains a heh, ה.
Interestingly Judah's feminine looking name contains the name יהוה which is also a feminine looking name. So even the name of the Lord is related to the feminine, to the Shechina! Judah's name also contains a dalet which means door, and that door is of course the Messiah who called himself the gate.
THREE SIBLINGS
We have seen how the two sisters represent the two houses of Israel. Now let us look at where Lazarus fits in with them. We have two sisters and one brother making three people in total. Wherever we have numbers we have correspondences. So Let's look at the three siblings in the light of the children of Israel.
Lazarus (Eleazar), Miriam and Martha, were all from the tribe of Levi. The three of them symbolise three houses.
Lazarus represents the priesthood of Eleazar that connects the children of Israel to the Lord through the temple service and teaching the Torah. The bible tells us to seek the Torah from the Priests mouth. Yeshua is a Priest of a higher order than Levi. But Levi's priesthood is not dead, just sleeping if you like. Awaiting the wake up call when Messiah joins the two Houses together.
The name Levi is from the verb derived from the root, vav, which means 'to connect'. Lazarus equates to the vav ו (and) that connects the Heavens and the Earth. This is the role of the Priesthood. The Levitical Priesthood bare witness to the higher priesthood of the Messiah, the Aleph-Tav, את, that binds the heavens and the earth together. The role of the earthly Levitical Priesthood is to teach Israel God's Torah. The Torah is the Word, the Aleph-Tav.
This is beautifully and elegantly illustrated in the first seven Hebrew words of the bible in Genesis 1:1 as shown above.
The raising of Lazarus makes the other two houses (represented by Myriam and Martha) happy because they have their brother back that was dead/'asleep' and now they are a united family again! The Priesthood headed by Eleazar is alive once more and Judah and Israel are one, and God's name is one.

- מרים Myriam
The name 'Myriam' comes from the root meaning bitterness. - מרתא Martha
The name Martha is Aramaic and means 'lady' or 'mistress'. It is the feminine form of the Armaic word for master or Lord, מרה , 'Mara'. In Greek this would be transliterated as Μαρα.
The Aramaic phrase 'Maranatha' contains this word and means 'come Lord'. - In Hebrew Martha would be spelt with a heh, מרתה

Yeshua the 'Son of God'

3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
The raising of the Cohenim headed by the line of Eleazar (Lazarus) shall bare witness to Yeshua who raised him/them.
And Eleazar (Lazarus) does not just bring glory to Yeshua as the Son of Man (which He is). But Eleazar (Lazarus) bares witness to Yeshua as the Son of God. This is very appropriate because to Levi were given the heavenly things. The understanding of the bible and Torah in particular is for all who study it and obey Him. But God also chose Levi as a vessel of honour in His House to be a conduit of blessing to his brethren. God chose the Levites as his own ministers as firstborn from amongst the children of Israel (Numbers 4:16 - see Part 2). And God chose the Line of Aaron as Priests (Cohens). And God chose Aaron's son Eleazar as the one to have oversight of the Priesthood.
Eleazar shall bare witness in particular to Yeshua's divinity and Heavenly Origin. Eleazar shall untangle to the details of the Torah so that the Jews can clearly understand Yeshua as the only begotten Son of God. This as always been a stumbling block to the earth bound thinking of the Jewish people.

Yeshua loves Martha, Miriam (Mary) & Eleazar (Lazarus)

5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
Love is the motivation for all good things that Yeshua does. Yeshua is going to raise Lazarus because HE LOVES HIM! And Yeshua LOVES Miriam and Martha too! God is love.
As discussed earlier, Miriam and Martha represent the two houses of Israel and Judah. Lazarus (Eleazar) represents the Priesthood of Levi that helps Join the two houses.
(Not only Levi helps join the two houses, so does the tribe of Benjamin. Benjamin helps join the two houses in another way - but that is outside the scope of this study. Paul was from Benjamin and Jerusalem is in Benjamin's Territory. Currently Benjamites are amongst the Jews. Before Jews from Judah repent in large numbers, the Jews from Benjamin will repent).
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
The Church (Adat Israel) had it's beginning in Jerusalem amongst Jewish believers. Over the course of a hundred or so years the Church became mainly Gentile. And it through off the Sabbath and Feasts and adopted pagan feasts. Now after almost 2000 years Yeshua is about to visit Judea (and thus the Jews) once more.
We know that a day in the court of the Lord is like 1000 years hear on earth (Psalm 84:10, 2 Peter 3:8). So we see a hint of this here because 2000 years equals 2 days in His court.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.
8 His disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
Now Yeshua decides to return to Judea again after waiting 2 days (2000 years). He say's 'let us go'. So it is not just him, but His disciples also.
The disciples are concerned that Yeshua might be killed if He returns amongst his Jewish brethren. Remember Yeshua comes in the Spirit of Joseph so many of His Jewish brothers do not recognise Him as the Messiah because they want the Romans out of Judea more than they want to deal with their sins. However if the nation had received Yeshua the Roman's would have had to leave because Yeshua was the one whom Moses spoke about. The Roman's would have lost the Jurisdiction. If the nation had dealt with their sin, the Romans would be defeated. That will have to wait now until to regathering of the lost tribes headed by the son of Joseph, Ephraim. This regathering is after 2000 years of history whereby the Messiah, Yeshua, in the 'Spirit of Joseph' so to speak has been gathering in the lost tribes and other gentiles and Jews that believe on His name.
9 Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
10 But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
Yeshuah reminds his disciples that there are twelve hours in a day. The number twelve represents human government. That is why there are 12 tribes and 12 disciples. If that government is not based on God's word then it is darkness, that is, the 12 hours of 'night'. But if that government is based on God's word then it is 'light', that is, the 12 hours of the 'day'. God's word and government are based on the Torah and the rest of the word of God, including the Testimony of Yeshua, the New Testament Scriptures.
11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
Lazarus (Eleazar) had died. Likewise the Levitical Priesthood of Eleazar was also dead. Indeed John the Baptist (Yochanan HaMatbeel) was the last righteous Priest that we know about in the line of Eleazar because we know he was from the House of Abijah. There may have been others from the line of Eleazar that turned to Yeshua also. We know that there were many Levitical Priests that became believers in Him after Yeshua's death and resurrection. But even so the spiritual life of the Jewish nation of Israel was moving towards it's funeral because of it's lack of fruit. Yeshua cursed the fig tree. The restoration of the Kingdom was not to come for another 2000 years.
We know that 'the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life' (Romans 6:23). Yeshua is that life and He is the resurrection (verse 25). So it although Lazarus (Eleazar) died he was about to be raised to the glory of God. This was to magnify who Yeshua is. It was a sign to Israel, and to the Jews who were as yet still in doubt as to Yeshua being the Messiah and the Son of God.
Shortly the Levitical Priesthood of Eleazar will be raised also. And many Jews will believe through His testimony.
16 Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples,
Let us also go, that we may die with him.
This is a very interesting statement because it may allude to the two sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh. If you read the historical account of the burial of Joseph in Shechem as recorded in Judges 24 you will also read that Eleazar was buried nearby to Joseph. The fact that it is in the same territory and recorded in the same chapter at the same time emphasizes a strong link between Joseph and Eleazar. Ephraim and Manasseh may be represented 'as' the 'twins' here in the person of Thomas (Didymus) whose name means twin.
The two sons of Aaron, Eleazar and Itamar both help join Israel in the worship of the Lord God of Israel. They both lean towards the two camps of the 'House of Israel' and the 'House of Judah'. If Eleazar leans towards Joseph then his brother Itamar leans towards Judah who consorts with 'Tamar' to produce two twin sons (more on this shortly).
As an aside, it is very interesting that the Modern settler town of Itamar (the name of Eleazar's brother) lies very close to Shechem and the tomb of Joseph. And it was from the nearby town of Palestinian Arab town of Awarta that a murder took place. And strangely that same town is said to be the very place where Eleazar was burried in the field purchased by Phineas his son in Mount Ephraim.
Thomas's comment may also allude to Judah's two twin sons through Tamar (related to the name Itamar!).
Even though there is animosity between Judah and Joseph and their descendants the truth is that at a higher level they are really one. They are both different aspects of their father Israel and the Messiah of Israel, Yeshua. Yeshua comes once in the spirit of Joseph and returns in the spirit of Judah's descendant good King David.
Thomas may also more broadly allude to Joseph's connection to Benjamin. Not a twin but a pair. Although Benjamin is Joseph's brother he currently dwells with Judah as a Jew. And so Benjamin, like Levi helps join the two houses of Israel together since he sort of has a connection to both camps. Jerusalem is in Benjamin's territory. Paul the Apostle (Sheleach) to the Gentiles (and lost tribes) was from Benjamin.
17 Then when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
This verse shows that Lazarus was well and truly dead. Later in verse 39 we read that he 'stinketh'! The number four is related to reproduction and dominion (four corners of earth, heaven, 400 pieces of silver four the price of the land to bury the Patriarchs). Jacob had two wives and they had two maidservants who were used as concubines. Thus adding up to four 'wives' in total by which to reproduce and raise up seed for Jacob.
This verse may allude to more than even this when it refers to laying in the grave four days. On a broader view of the raising of Lazarus, the story can refer to the descendants of Adam. This is because Israel is called Adam. And the Raising of Lazarus is related to the raising of the Cohenim led by Eleazar. And thus the raising of the Cohenim are related to the raising of Israel in the last days! So Israel is Adam and Eleazar represents the awakening of Israel and then the entire race of Adam. And the race of Adam had been asleep in sin for 4000 years already, that is four days in God's court.
And just as Adam was asleep so that the Lord could take a rib from his side and form his bride so Israel had fallen asleep while the Messiah forms the Bride of the Messiah, the Church (Adat Israel).
The Bride of Messiah brings forth the Manchild in Revelation chapter 12. The Manchild is similar to Messiah with one exception, he is not crucified but ascends directly to heaven after birth. Like Messiah he rules with a Rod of Iron. The promise to Rule with a Rod of Iron is given to the overcomers of the church of Thyatira. This is the fourth church and so we see a direct correspondence with the number four to reproduction and the birth of the Manchild. This also related to the fourth feast, Pentecost, the Marriage and the bring in of the firstfruits of the Wheat Harvest. The number four is also bound to the fourth day of Creation where the Sun Moon and Stars where created . Both the Harvest of Wheat and the Sun, Moon and Stars were the substance of Joseph's two dreams which cost him his betrayal by Judah and the other brothers for 20 pieces of silver. Happily the Lord intended this for the good of Judah and the other brothers including cruel and jealous Simeon and Levi.
So the number four has everything to do with the the bride, procreation, the firstborn and spreading dominion over the four corners of the Earth and the four corners of heaven.
Remember that Aaron's rod budded first. So shall it be in the resurrection of Israel. Levi was the last of the twelve sons to die when Israel went into Egypt. And Levi was the first to spiritually revive when they left. Indeed Moses the Levite was the leader of the Exodus and his brother Aaron was the Priest and father of Eleazar.
18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
The name Bethany comes from the noun, 'Beit', meaning 'House' and 'ani' meaning either the noun 'fig' or the adjective 'poor' or 'afflicted'.
At the time of Yeshua's first visitation, the House of Judah was likened to bad figs. The prophet Jeremiah speaks of this also. However this is not what Bethany represents because there is another town called Bethphage that means 'House of Unripe Figs', that is, 'bad figs'! Thankfully despite the condition of the nation at the time of Yeshua it was alive enough to give us the Jewish Messiah and begin the process of redemption of both houses of Israel and the building of the Bride of Messiah, the Church (Adat Israel). Thankfully there will come a time when Israel is a basket of good figs once more here symbolised by Bethany.
Bethany can also mean 'house of affliction'. And it is in the 'house of affliction' that Israel is refined. Egypt was a place of affliction where Israel was to serve Pharoah until the time of their redemption through Moses and the Passover lamb. Once Israel is afflicted and repents they become good figs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethany_(biblical_village)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bethany
The distance between Bethany and Jerusalem was fifteen furlongs. The number fifteen is very significant. It is not an incidental detail. There are fifteen Psalms from Psalm 120 to 134 that were called the 'Songs of Ascent (Degrees)' (Hebrew, שיר המעלות, 'Shir Maalot') which were sung during the Feasts as they ascended the steps to the temple.
After the flood in Noah's day, the Ark rose fifteen cubits above the mountains. In the Hebrew the same term Maalot is used to describe the progress of the ascent of the Ark above the mountains. This is no coincidence because these two incidents containing the number fifteen allude to the same thing prophetically. Indeed Psalm 121, one of the songs of ascent, says "I will lift up my face unto the hills...". The Bride is thus getting ready to meet the groom through a period of trial. Thus the number fifteen is about the process of the bride making herself ready to meat the King as she moves from the 'House of affliction' to the 'House of Holiness' which Jerusalem represents. Then when she is ready she will rise to meet the King of Glory in Revelation chapter 12. When she is walking in holiness the Dragon, the old devil and serpent, HaSatan cannot touch her or her child (Manchild). He can only go after the gentile followers of the Messiah amongst the nations at that time. The 'man child' is the overcomers of the Church of Thyatira who shall rule with Messiah with a Rod of Iron.
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
The loss of Lazarus deeply upset his sister Martha. Martha symbolically represents the 'House of Judah' (Jews) and they feel the loss of the Temple and the Levitical Cohenim headed by Lazarus (Eleazar) much more deeply than the lost tribes represented by Miriam (Mary). Levi was after all Judah's older brother and spiritual leader. The House of David is the Political Leader. The paths of the Levitical priesthood headed by Eleazar and the Davidic dynasty are deeply entwined.
All throughout the Jewish dispersion these past 2000 years the Jews have yearned for the reestablishment of Zion. They have prayed, 'Next Year in Jerusalem'. Mary loved her brother also but her eyes were on the Lord himself, not her brother. She was fixated on the Messiah more than the physical House and Levitical system so to speak. The lost tribes are only now awakening to the Sabbath and Torah. The Jews (Judah) have been holding on to this hope all along and have carried this hope at great personal cost to themselves in a hostile gentile world.

Yeshua Raises Lazarus (Eleazar) because He is the Resurrection

22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
Martha who represents the 'House of Judah' believes that Yeshua is the 'Son of God' without witnessing the miracle of the raising of Lazarus soon many more Jews will believe by witnessing this miracle. So it is today, there are some Jews that already have faith in Yeshua and believe in His eternal, heavenly origins. Still there are others that will believe once the Levitical Cohanim (Priests) are raised.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
Mary, the former Harlot who represents the 'House of Israel' also did not understand why Yeshua had allowed her brother Lazarus to die.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
Her Jewish brethren were not without feeling either.
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
37 And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Jesus wept, the shortest verse in the bible. The people could see the depth of feeling the Messiah had for Lazarus through his tears. The people did not understand why Yeshua had waited or why he didn't try to prevent the death of Lazarus. Many of us ask the Lord the same question in our own lives. Why does God allow evil. Well it is only for a limited time, and we can leave the deep things to God knowing that there are reasons. All we have to do is trust him and hang onto Him and not let go even as Jacob did at the River Jabok.
The Lord has allowed Israel to die so that He could be magnified when after 2000 years the nation is restored. The raising of the Priesthood of Eleazar will be such a miracle.
Lazarus was dead four days. Here is the number four again - see commentary on verse 17. All I will add here is that when Lazarus rises, so does Israel and by extension so does the entire human race. Since the fall of the human race in the garden of Eden we begin to die the moment we are born. One day is as a thousand years. There was 4000 years between the birth of Adam and Yeshua, that is, four days. And there will be 4000 years between the birth of Isaac (the son of Promise who begat Israel & Edom) and the raising up of Israel. The first in Israel to rise will be the Levitical Cohenim led by Eleazar.
The Sleeper Has Awoken

Father - The Sleeper has Awoken!
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
And so the day will come shortly when the Levitical Cohanim will be raised. What will this entail. The actual descendants of Aaron's son, Eleazar (Lazarus) are very much alive. But they are asleep to their calling. God shall spiritually awaken them. This may entail dreams and visions. And they will receive a download of the Torah to give to their brethren the priests descended from Itamar, and then the Levites and then all Israel. They will bare witness to Yeshua who has awoken them.
The napkin indicates some initial two way obfuscation. Lazarus needed some help in being loosed which required a divine command from the Messiah himself. Many people from this line of Cohanim will be walking around a little dumbfounded with their new identity and mission. They will need time and help to come to terms with things as they cast aside the grave clothes of their old way of thinking and doing. They will be joined by their brethren the Jews.
The raising of the Cohanim led by Eleazar's descendants is going to be accompanied by earthquakes all around the world. This will be during the time of Israel's spiritual uncleanness when the moon turns to blood. Birth can be a bloody messy affair. This it the topic of Part four of this series.
45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
Praise the Lord! You need to remind antisemites that the first Christians were Jews. They were the first believers! It took a miracle, but then true salvation whether by signs or not is a miracle. The Jews in this case believed through the miraculous raising of Lazarus who represents the Priesthood of Eleazar. This is the purpose of the Cohenim led by Eleazar, to shine shine the light of Torah so that the Mashiach is clearly seen. The Messiah is the purpose or end goal of the Law. The priesthood are to bring the people of God into the knowledge of God and the Son of God Yeshua HaMashiach who came in the flesh to physically give up his life for us. And just as Lazarus was raised so too Yeshua rose as first fruits from the dead because He is the resurrection and the life!
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

The Roman puppet 'Chief Priests' hate Yeshua & plot to Kill Him

What is the spirit of the 'builders'?
46 But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.
47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
John the Baptist was from the line of Eleazar. He was a Cohen. He was not a Roman lackey. He prepared the way for the Messiah. Many Jews believed in Yeshua through His witness, many more were won through Yeshua's own words, finally many were also won by the witness of others and then by the raising of Lazarus.
But far less believe amongst the religious leadership of the nation at that time. Who are these leaders that talk about the Romans taking away 'our Temple and Nation'? Yeshua offered the Kingdom to the religious leaders of his time, but they did not agree to His terms. Then He began to speak in parables and no longer walk amongst them openly. These leaders are completely faithless and worldly minded, they have 'no king but Ceasar'. Here was the owner of the temple, Yeshua, but they thought the owner was the Romans! Now they are afraid of loosing the temple. This is such an ironic statement because Yeshua would have brought the Kingdom if they had agreed to His terms. But perhaps many of these blind rebellious leaders were not who they claimed to be. There are some Jews that are not Jews but are of the Synagogue of Satan. Israel's leadership had already been subverted. (We see the same process today in Israel, there are Jews that take their orders from Rome). They even had an Edomite King named Herod. The high priests were political appointees of Rome too. Thus Edom was in control of the religious system of the day. It was dead.
Yeshua was the stone these 'builders' had rejected. The Freemasons of today are the 'builders' and they carry on in the same spirit of rebellion as they travel to the East. It's one thing to be a wise master builder, and have a perfect building plan. But true wisdom is fearing the God of Israel and obeying His Commandments and following His Son, the Mashiach, Yeshua. The builders may try to build but they will not establish it. An enterprise that does not get the approval of the King is doomed to failure. On the other hand Yeshua the King may approve the undertaking only to magnify his Father and bring judgement upon the builders who follow the 'widow's son' (Hiram of Tyre). To have a good plan is one thing but to have a good heart is another thing entirely. It is not enough to have the correct form, we must also have the right spirit. Otherwise our Temple will become an Anti-Temple. And this is the plan of Freemasonry, an Anti Temple that denies the Son of God and exalts another as God. They will try to build Solomon's temple in the 'spirit of Antichrist' rejecting Yeshua. But again, Yeshua will be the Rosh Pinah, the Chief cornerstone. He is 'the stone the builders rejected' (Psalm 118:22). However when the people are walking in rebellion then the Antichrist will put his image in the Holy place causing desolation.
Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries gave an amazing commentary on Solomon's dedication of the Temple and the Song of Songs. Solomon built the temple according to his father David's plans, but during the dedication Solomon gave too much glory to himself saying that it was "the House (temple) that I HAVE BUILT". This phrase is repeated a number of times (1 Kings 8:44,48). Pride cometh before a fall and that is what happened to Solomon and His Kingdom.
However there will be a gentile Edomite hand in the building of the temple, as there always has been a gentile connection to it. The Temple in Jerusalem is the earthly footstool of the Lord. And it is also the Nexus between the Kingdom of Darkness and the Kingdom of Light. It is the center of the conflict between Jacob and the other sons of Abraham. It is the center of conflict between Satan and His Host and the Lord God of Israel, the creator of Heaven and Earth and sustainer or all.
Every Israelite temple though has been established in righteousness and destroyed through wickedness. The third temple will have the Levitical Cohenim oversee it's operation. But when the people of God turn from the Lord, the Cohanim will be corrupted and the Man of Sin will be revealed and put his abomination that causes desolation.
The Law is not sin, neither is the Temple or Levitical sacrificial system. But it is incomplete without the Messiah. The Torah, like the Menorah is Light. But another aspect of it is the bread that came down from heaven. If we don't have the Messiah, we don't have the Torah either. Rules and regulations without a heart that feels and feet that obey is dead. But if we are following the Lamb and having a living vital relationship then our light is true light, because we are truly dining on the Bread of His Presence. The Menorah and Shewbread must be united within us. We must have the Word of God both in letter and in spirit.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
Caiphas may have been a political appointee, a High Priest subservient to Herod the edomite and the Romans but he still spoke prophetically yet ironically.
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
A Righteous man's death can atone for much. But the death of a completely sinless man can atone for all the sins of the children of God that are called by His name. Yeshua is that sinless man who like Isaac, offered up his life freely to the His Father.
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
The scattered children of God -only Yeshua has been gathering in the exiles of Israel. Yeshua's mission was to gather in the lost sheep of the 'House of Israel' (Matthew 15:24). He has been doing this through the last 2000 years. He has also gathered in Gentiles that are not physically from Israel but are spiritually from Israel through repentance ('Teshuvah'). Soon he will return us to the land of Israel.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
Yeshua is the life and the resurrection and yet the price of our redemption cost Yeshua His life as the Lamb of God on Passover.
2000 years have past since Yeshua's death, resurrection, commissioning of the Apostles of the Church (Adat Israel) and ascension. His death was the price for bringing the prodigal son home. Yeshua's resurrection assures the completion of the task. Now it is time for Lazarus (the Priesthood of Eleazar) to be raised as the return of 'Ephraim' draws near. Now that the Cohanim are functioning again Yeshua will visit Ephraim to bring him to the land of Israel.
Yeshua returns near to the Wilderness to a city called 'Ephraim'

Welcome Home my Son
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
This is the only place in the New Testament where the name 'Ephraim' appears.
Ephraim is the Son of Joseph who got the blessing of Firstborn from Reuben when Reuben fell through sexual immorality. Because of his sexual purity Joseph got the blessing of fruitfulness and therefore abundant descendants.
The good Lord speaks warmly that 'Ephraim is my firstborn' (Jeremiah 31:9). Now that Yeshua has awoken the sleeping Priesthood headed by Eleazar (Lazarus) he can now go to the wilderness and gather in Ephraim his firstborn personally.
The last 2000 years have been 2000 years of Messiah. Yeshua has been gathering in the Pentecostal wheat harvest of souls through the gospel. He has been gathering in the lost tribes headed by Ephraim and other Gentiles called by his name. Now that time period of dispersion of Ephraim is coming to a close Yeshua is about to bring in the remnant of the Lost tribes physically to the land through 'fury poured out' (Ezekiel 20 - see further down). That fury is the travail of another World War because the good Lord is bring judgement to the nations where Ephraim and the ten lost tribes of the House of Israel reside.
The Lord shall mercifully protect the remnant of His flock headed by Ephraim and bring them back. This is why the call has gone forth in the heavens for us to awaken to the Sabbath and feasts and Torah.
We are told in Ezekiel 20:35 that God will gather ten lost tribes of the 'House of Israel' into the 'Wilderness of the peoples' and then into Israel proper. But before they cross the Jordan into the promised land the Lord shall weed out all the rebels from amongst the House of Israel. Then once the House of Israel is cleaned up and accept the the Torah given to them in the Wilderness of the Peoples then they are ready to cross over.
Remember this is not the translation of the saints into glory, just a physical return to the land of Israel. The Rapture/Resurrection occurs midway or at the end of the seven year tribulation. But the return of the lost tribes is before the Tribulation. The return of the lost tribes occurs during tremendous upheaval and 'fury poured out' (Ezekiel 20:33). It is a major birthpang. It occurs when 'nation rises against nation' and 'kingdom against kingdom' (Mathew 24), that is World War (World War 3 to be precise). World War 3 is going to be cruel but it is still just a birth pang, not the tribulation itself. The destruction of America or Australia is not 'the tribulation' but it is trouble. This is why we need to seek meekness (Zephaniah 2:3) and keep our heads down and not walk around with a swagger.
Ezekiel 20:33-38

33 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord GOD. 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

The modern secular state of Israel as it is now has been gathered in unbelief and is under the control of Edom through Rome. Although God is still doing a work in a remnant of the people, the nation is heading to judgement like our gentile nations.
When the children of Israel crossed the Jordan into the promised land for the first time there was an order to to the march. First the Priests had to walk into the Jordan with the Ark of the Covenant and the waters miraculously piled up so that the children of Israel could walk across the dry river bed. The Priesthood is actually the first to dip their feet in the water of Jordan and cross over. This symbolises the necessity of holiness and thus obedience to God's word as the true means of entering the land. And the Levitical Priests had a crucial role in this.
Jewish leaders rejected Yeshua 2000 years ago. The Levitical Priesthood is asleep (Spiritually dead). But it is nearing the time for the establishment of Zion. So the Lord has orchestrated a physical return in unbelief while Rome is still really in control. This is in order to awaken a remnant of Judah from within. By contending for the land the Jewish leaders and settlers are in effect struggling with the Angel of the Lord, with Messiah Yeshua. To them the angel of the Lord is Esau's angel. They are struggling with Esau. But they are really struggling with the Messiah who is the angel of the Lord. Once Jacob struggles long enough He will find out the name of the Messiah and become believing Israel. Then Edom will not have jurisdiction in the heavenly courts. And then the true regathering of Israel and Judah can begin in earnest. Then the Cohanim will be raised and the remnant of both Houses of Judah and Israel will cross over. (There is an even more spiritual fulfilment to crossing the Jordan later on when the dead in Messiah are raised from death, and passover the Jordan which symbolises death, into the Heavenly realm.)
So the modern state has been gathered in unbelief. This does not mean that it is not a work of God, it just means that it is heading for judgement. In the birthpangs of World War 3 a remnant of the House of Judah shall turn to the Lord. Once Judah is obeying the Torah they will begin to experience victory over their enemies in a major way. Torah obedience leads us to the Messiah for the Torah is a schoolmaster that leads to Messiah. The House of Judah (Jews) will turn to Yeshua and turn their hearts towards their lost tribe brethren. It is only the Torah written upon lamb skin (Yeshua the Passover Lamb) that will unite the two houses of Judah and Israel.
The terrible price that Yeshua paid to bring Ephraim and the ten lost tribes back to himself was paid for fully in his blood as the Passover Lamb. Let's read on...
55 And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.
And that Passover Lamb's blood also pays for the sins of the Jews (House of Judah) that put their trust in Him. For they also have broken His commandments and nullified the Torah through their tradition and finally betrayal of the Owner of the Vineyard, the Son of God, Yeshua.
The raising of Lazarus (Eleazar) caused an upraor and the Jewish Rabinical establishment wanted Him dead because he was proof that Yeshua is the Messiah. When the Cohanim headed by Eleazar are awoken/raised by Yeshua in the last days it's going to through a monkey wrench into the camp of the Talmudists Rabbis that deny Yeshua. They are fevourishly working to build the temple while rejecting the chief cornerstone. Eleazar will bare witness to Yeshua alone as Messiah. This will initiate the death of Rabinical Judaism in it's proud iron like opposition to the Owner of the Vineyard. The good Torah based things that the Jews believe will of course be maintained, but the man made laws that conflict with Torah and deny Yeshua will be exposed and dealt with. Eleazar has oversight of the entire Temple system. The two houses will only be joined by the Lamb of God. And Eleazar will bare him witness and lead the Priesthood in the rebuilt temple under the guiding hand of Yeshua from above.
The Temple is Yeshua's House (as we are spiritually also his house). Later on when the actual tribulation occurs the Antichrist will desecrate it (2 Thessalonians 2:4). The Temples have always been established in Righteousness and destroyed through wickedness. Yeshua will construct the temple of Ezekiel 40 himself after He returns. Of course all the temples represent the spiritual temple but that doesn't mean that they are not physical buildings, just as we are spiritual beings that have physical bodies.
The New Covenant is thus for both Houses of Israel, the 'House of Judah' and the 'House of Israel'.

Levitical Priesthood Raised during a period of judgement

The raising of Lazarus (Eleazar) shall occur during a time of Judgement via earthquakes and war when the moon turns to blood. We will discuss the Levitical Priesthood and the joining of the two Houses of Israel. So stay tuned. This is a birth by Cesarean, and Caesar wont be happy!

Joshua 24:29-33
29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
31 And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.
32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
Lets look at this account in greater detail;
Eleazar's Burial place in Mt Ephraim

The sleep of Death...
You will notice that later in last few verses of Joshua 24 that Eleazar was burried very close nearby. The implication is that when it is time to raise up the sons of Joseph/Joshua, the Sons of Eleazar will also rise because in someway they are joined.
How are they joined? Joseph got the birthright of firstborn. The birthright means that Joseph's descendants would be numerous and blessed above the other tribes. But Levi got the earthly Priesthood of Firstborn. In Numbers chapter 3 we see how the Levites are taken from amongst the children of Israel to replace the firstborn of each family and thus becoming the Lord's firstborn tribe in terms of spritual service in the earthly tabernacle and sacrificial system. So there is a definate link between Joseph and Levi in terms of First born, they each have a different aspect and portion of it. And Judah gets something too.
1 Chronicles 5:2 For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's
כִּי יְהוּדָה גָּבַר בְּאֶחָיו וּלְנָגִיד מִמֶּנּוּ וְהַבְּכֹרָה לְיֹוסֵף׃
Judah is linked also because he got the chief ruler, that is the Davidic line that brought forth Messiah. But Judah's burial place is not in the same area. Thus there is a stronger link between Joseph, Joshua and Eleazar in terms of where they were buried.
In a sense there are actually 3 houses
So again to repeat the basic idea, the raising up of the lost tribes headed by Joseph is going to be associated with the raising of Eleazar (Lazarus) and will be accompanied with Earthquakes. These Earthquakes will happen during a period of World War according to Matthew 24. The Priestly descendants of Eleazar (Lazarus) will be spiritually awoken (raised) and sent to Judah to bring reform to the 'House of Judah' in preperation for the return of the Sons of Joseph and the rest of the ten lost tribes of the 'House of Israel'.

'Gaash', Earthquakes, Levitical Cohanim raised
- as the moon turns to blood

In Matthew 24 we are told by the Messiah that leading up to his return there would be terrible violence through wars, nations rising up against nations and Kingdoms against Kingdoms.
The word translated nations is actually the Greek word ethnos, from which we get the word ethnic from. That is, there will be ethnic violence. This is coupled with war between Kingdoms. Together this phrase paints a picture of War on a global scale, that is, World War.
We have had two World Wars already and both were instrumental in returning Israel to the land. Now we are about due for another one that will see the return of the lost tribes. I have written about this extensively in other articles.
We are also told that there will be earthquakes in diverse places. This is already beginning to happen on a large scale.
Let's now look at the account of the burial of Joseph with earthquakes in mind.
Joshua 24:30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.

Gash H1608 גּעשׁ ga‛ash ga'-ash
From H1607; a quaking; Gaash, a hill in Palestine: - Gaash. H1607 גּעשׁ gâ‛ash gaw-ash' A primitive root to agitate violently: - move, shake, toss, trouble. Total KJV Occurrences: 9 'moved', 3 - Jer 25:16 (2), Jer 46:7-8 (2) 'shook', 3 - 2Sa 22:8 (2), Psa 18:7 'shaken', 1 - Psa 18:7 (2) 'toss', 1 - Jer 5:22 'troubled', 1 - Job 34:20 |
Let's see where the Word Gaash appears in scripture when used as a verb;
Psalms 18:7(8) Then the earth shook and trembled;
the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
So we can see that the name Gaash where Joseph was buried was related to the word for the shaking of an Earthquake. You will remember that when Yeshua died there was an earthquake and many of the dead believers from the past rose from their graves.
Matthew 27:50-53 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Our redemption cost our Lord all that he had. It cost him his reputation, honour, His body, His Soul, His life. His death brought immediate life even before Yeshua rose again on the third day. Yeshua is the Ressurection and the Life and this is signified immediately at his death by earthquakes and resurrection!

Moon turns to blood

Now let's go back to the book of Matthew, to the Olivet Discourse in chapter 24. There are striking similarities to the time period mentioned here and the way our world is going at present.
Matthew 24:6-9 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
We are not yet in this scenario (as of November 2012). We have a rising number of earthquakes but we don't have civil breakdown through ethnic unrest or world war just yet. But that is surely not far away now.
All of this commotion caused by physical earthquakes will be happening during a period of judgement when sins have reached a tipping point. We are already in that time, but it is still not obvious to most. Soon we shall have even greater Earthquakes. Then the awakening will begin for the male descendants of Eleazar (Lazarus). The awakening of the Cohanim led by the descendants of Eleazar (Lazarus) will lead to the awakening of Levi as a whole and to the awakening of a remnant of Judah. The awakening of Eleazar is the beginning of the awakening of Israel. Once Eleazar is awoken then the entire two houses of Israel will be awoken as per John 11 as discussed in Part 3.
There is a vital difference in the time period that Yeshua describes in Matthew 24 and ours, and that is the presence of a temple in Jerusalem. Yeshua of course was speaking directly to the time period of his disciples when He mentioned the stones of the temple being pulled down. But the discourse moves onto the desecration of the temple as prophesied by Daniel which has not yet been fulfilled. It was partly fulfilled by the Greek invasion in the time of Antiochus Epiphanes when the Maccabees rededicated the temple. This is commemorated in the Jewish holiday called Chanuka or 'Dedication', a feast which is not commanded in Torah but one that marks a historical event where God helped the Jewish people to overcome their enemies. Yeshua attended the feast of Dedication with his parents.
So it appears that we are in a time very similar to the final birth pangs of the Messiah, the time of sorrows that Yeshua is pointing to. The difference is that at that time there will be a rebuilt temple functioning, and it will be desecrated. Then the woman which is the bride (believing Israel) will be scattered to the Judean Hills and the remnant of her seed (spiritual seed) shall be killed, Rev 12:17. This 'remnant of her seed' are the non Israelite believers amongst the nations. They may not be Israel according to the flesh but they are born from above and pay for their faith with their blood at the hands of the wicked.
We are at a period of time that will see the dissolution of the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand as we know it. We too will see the same sort of events in Matthew 24 including war, famines, earthquakes, persecution etc. But this will herald the return of the lost tribes and the building of the temple.
This temple shall be established in righteousness by a reformed Israel comprising of the two houses of Israel in an enlarged promised land after world war 3. The temples are always established in righteousness and destroyed through apostasy.
There are other reasons why there is going to be a return of the lost tribes after world war 3 which is before the tribulation. These reasons are related to the land of Israel having already been restored to an Edenic state before the Amos 9 invasion. Also the Gog Magog invasion occurs after the regathering of both Houses of Israel to greater Israel. This invasion is after WW3 but before the tribulation. Also the scriptures state that Israel is to possess the remnant of Edom. This has not yet happened. For the details why please read the Article titled 'The Rapture'.

Palm trees of smoke

Joel 2:30 - Palmtrees of Smoke
At the same time God will be pouring out his spirit upon Ephraim and the rest of the lost tribes. This is detailed in Joel chapter 2. It will be immediately followed by judgement when the moon turns to blood and the sun to darkness. Shortly thereafter the nations that the lost tribes are currently dispersed amongst, especially North America, Australia and New Zealand, will be convulsed by ethnic strife and terrible violence. There will also be pillars of smoke, which in Hebrew is literally palmtrees of smoke. Any large explosion, especially nuclear causes a palmtree of smoke. For more information on this see the following two blog posts.

Jewish Settlers near the tomb of Eleazar
It is very heartening personally for me that a remnant of the Jewish people despite all their trials are still holding on to the hope of a restored Israel.
And there are even some who pray for the restoration of the Cohenim, the sons of Eleazar and Itamar, the sons of Aaron.
It is very significant what happens on the ground. The fact that the tombs of the Cohenim are being visited is sign of the earthquake to come when Eleazar (Lazarus) is raised.
And when he is raised, so too will the house of David.
The general antagonism towards Yeshua amongst the rabbinic religious leaders will be met head on by the descendants of Eleazar when godlessness is driven from Jacob and the 10 lost tribes of the House of Israel are restored.
Therefore watch with special interest what happens in the Arab/Philistine town of Awarta where Eleazar and Itamar are buried. It was from this village that terrorist murderers attacked the Fogel family in the small adjacent Jewish town of Itamar. In affect the Arabs were unwittingly awakening the Cohenim.
